About This Spot
Stepping into El Toum feels like entering a warmly lit corner of Beirut tucked right in the heart of Jackson Heights. The space invites a gentle pause, where the hum of conversation mingles with the soft clatter of dishes and occasional bursts of laughter. It’s the kind of place where time moves just a bit slower, encouraging you to savor not only the food but the sense of connection that fills the room.
This Middle Eastern restaurant unfolds around you like a story told through textures and colors—walls adorned with eclectic touches that hint at the vibrant streets and seaside corniches of Lebanon. The atmosphere is relaxed but attentive, carrying an unmistakable feeling of hospitality that comes from a deeply personal touch. Here, you’re not just another guest at a table; you’re welcomed as part of a small gathering, with care woven into every moment.
Dining at El Toum is an invitation to explore familiar and unexpected flavors in the company of thoughtful hands. Plates arrive generous and thoughtfully composed, offering a balance of creamy hummus, fragrant spices, and tender grilled meats that speak to tradition without feeling formal. The hummus 'Bi Lahmet' and mix of fresh salads create a rhythm of tastes that feels both nourishing and comforting, while sides like falafel and roasted vegetables add texture and homey familiarity. Accompanying your meal with a homemade lemonade or a classic Lebanese coffee enhances the experience, tying together the sense of place with every sip.
What truly lingers is the human moment embedded in the service—the owner’s genuine presence and warmth that transform the meal into more than just a dining occasion. It’s a reminder of how food, thoughtfully prepared and shared, can create a space that feels like family—even far from home.

El Toum in New York is truly a special place. From the moment you walk in, the décor and atmosphere immediately transport you to the Middle East, with an authentic and welcoming vibe that makes the experience even better. The restaurant is run and attended by its owner, who is very friendly and takes the time to give recommendations. That personal touch really makes a difference. I ordered a chicken shawarma with hummus, but they served me a lamb shawarma with hummus instead. Normally, I never eat lamb and in the past I’ve never really liked it. But I decided to try it, and it was a complete surprise — absolutely spectacular. The lamb was tender and full of flavor, the salad was fresh, and the hummus was outstanding, definitely some of the best I’ve had. This is without a doubt a great spot if you’re looking to enjoy an excellent hummus and a flavorful shawarma. A place worth visiting and repeating.

I find it to be one of the most wonderful restaurants in Jackson heights, both the food and the level of care and service! I recently celebrated my birthday and Sammy, was so attentive and hosted the event at his restaurant. We had 22 people and he worked with us to create a fixed menu. It was a wonderful experience. They are a BYOB restaurant and the menu is an authentic representation of Lebanese cuisine.

Found out this place last week and plan be here whenever I have a chance. This has to be one of the most authentic and great quality Levantine restaurants I’ve been to. We were served by Sammy who I believe is the owner, waiter, and chef. Sammy is not only welcoming but treats you like family from beginning to end. You never see such care for service and food in today’s age. Some people over use the term “hidden gem” but this restaurant is in all intensive purposes a true hidden gem.

Amazingly serviced by the chef/owner, a very charming gentleman. Every dish is very well prepared, deliciously seasoned, and abundant enough to properly fill you up. Every plate deserves 5 stars. If you like Mediterranean cuisine, you must include this restaurant in your must-go list.

By far some of the best dishes straight out of Beirut!! The hummus bil lahmeh (with meat) is such a staple and it brings me back home every single time!! Topped it off with a beautiful Lebanese coffee! The spot is so cute and filled with beautiful decorations in a random and abstract way that you’ll always find something to look at on the walls — whether it’s the corniche of Beirut or a homey DIY wall art!

This was such an incredible find and just so perfect in every way that if I lived in the neighborhood, I’d probably be a regular. Walking in, you’re confronted with a cozy and warm space with just a few tables, perfect for a date night. And the host, a towering man, was so welcoming and friendly - treating us and other guests almost like family. The food was exceptional - I had the beef with hummus while my partner had the lamb, and both dishes were perfectly cooked and full of flavor, not to mention being reasonably priced. An outstanding meal in every way, I’ll definitely be returning.
